Today I drew another paint: Phthalo Green Blue Shade (PG7)! I never promised they’d be exotic paints, just ones I don’t use very often.
I had fun doing a springy forest scene.

Here’s the reference photo from Unsplash.

I used:
- Phthalo Green Blue Shade (PG7)
- Azo Yellow (PY151) for cool-undertoned yellow-greens
- Raw Sienna (yesterday’s advent calendar pick!) and Transparent Red Oxide to mix dark greens, and for use in the brown forest floor
- Cobalt Blue for shadows
- Perylene Red (PR178), used only to mix with the Phthalo Green for dark blackish-brown tree trunks
I also finished my Raw Sienna cliffs from yesterday! Or at least I got as far on it as I plan to. To be honest, the Raw Sienna is not really visible because there are so many layers of other earths. I felt I had overworked them and they didn’t look like anything anymore so I decided to just have fun with it and painted chromatic shadows with Phthalo Blue GS and DS Quinacridone Magenta (PR202).

And here’s the reference photo for that.
